This guide covers export funding programs available to businesses and organizations in Manitoba, helping readers understand which options match their specific sector, structure, and trading activities.
Export Development Program
This program supports Manitoba small and medium-sized enterprises by providing rebates for exhibiting or attending tradeshows and missions outside Manitoba, as well as for market research and trade preparedness training. It offers up to 75 per cent reimbursement for exhibitors and 50 per cent for attendees, with a maximum of $20,000 per event and an annual maximum of $50,000 per company. Applications are open year-round until program funds are fully committed, with future year applications for events occurring after March 31, 2026, accepted beginning January 1, 2026.
Incoming Buyer Program
This program is for for-profit small and medium-sized enterprises in Manitoba to help them host qualified international buyers. It provides funding up to $5,000 or 50 per cent of eligible costs, specifically covering economy airfare and local accommodations for the buyer. Companies are limited to 2 applications per year and 1 visit per buyer, and applications remain open year-round until program funds are fully committed.
AgriMarketing Program - Kosher and Halal Investment Component
This program provides non-repayable contribution funding to national, not-for-profit agricultural sector associations in the Canadian red meat sector (beef and veal). It supports export promotion, market development, and trade by funding strategic marketing campaigns, advertising platforms, trade shows, and industry conferences to promote Canadian kosher and halal red meat products domestically and abroad. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada may contribute up to $2 million towards a project, with applications open until September 30, 2027, unless funds are fully committed earlier.
AgriMarketing Program: Market Diversification for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
This program delivers non-repayable contributions to small and medium-sized for-profit enterprises in the Canadian agriculture, agri-food, and agri-products sector, including fish and seafood. Eligible recipients with less than 500 full-time equivalent employees receive funding for projects lasting up to 18 months to open new, non-traditional markets and expand export and interprovincial trade activities. Applications are open from February 13, 2026, until September 30, 2030, unless funds are fully committed earlier.
AgriMarketing Program: Market Diversification for National Industry Associations
This program offers contribution funding to national industry associations to promote market diversification, open new non-traditional markets, and expand export and interprovincial trade for the Canadian agriculture, agri-food, and agri-products sector, including fish and seafood. Project awards normally do not exceed $1 million per year or a maximum of $5 million over 5 years. Applications are accepted from February 13, 2026, until September 30, 2030, subject to early closure if funds are fully committed.
Which one fits
The available programs are divided between general business supports administered by the Government of Manitoba and specialized agricultural sector supports administered by the Government of Canada. Manitoba-based small and medium-sized enterprises looking to exhibit at international tradeshows, conduct market research, or host incoming international buyers can explore the Export Development Program and the Incoming Buyer Program.
For entities operating specifically within the agriculture, agri-food, fish, seafood, and red meat sectors, the options depend on organizational structure and project scope. For-profit agricultural enterprises with fewer than 500 employees target the AgriMarketing Program for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises to diversify into non-traditional markets. Meanwhile, national not-for-profit associations focus on broader sector-wide initiatives through the Kosher and Halal Investment Component or the Market Diversification for National Industry Associations stream.
