This guide covers government funding and tax credits available to support business growth, infrastructure, and sector-specific development in British Columbia. It is intended for businesses, organizations, municipalities, and community groups operating within the province.

Eligible corporations can claim expenditures for acquiring new buildings, machinery, and equipment used primarily for manufacturing and processing operations. Expenditures incurred after March 31, 2026, and before April 1, 2036, may be eligible.

AgriAssurance Program - Kosher and Halal Investment Component

This program provides contribution funding to support quality assurance systems and slaughter practices for the Canadian kosher and halal red meat sector, specifically beef and veal. It is open to eligible not-for-profit organizations and for-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until September 30, 2027, unless funding is fully committed earlier, and the program ends on March 31, 2028.

Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) in British Columbia

This program offers non-repayable contributions with 50 percent matching funding to support projects that strengthen business growth and regional innovation ecosystems. It is typically for industry associations, ecosystem organizations, and other not-for-profits providing business supports and services. The application deadline is October 30, 2026, at 12:00 pm PT.

Which one fits

Choosing the right program depends primarily on your organization type and the nature of your project. If your organization focuses on community infrastructure, the Build Communities Strong Fund offers non-repayable contributions for public-benefit projects managed by municipalities, Indigenous groups, and not-for-profits. For broader economic development involving business support networks, the Regional Innovation Ecosystems program targets industry associations and not-for-profits with non-repayable matching grants, carrying an application deadline of October 30, 2026.

For commercial ventures, options vary by sector and growth stage. Incorporated high-growth companies expanding technology or productivity can look at the Business Scale-up and Productivity program for repayable contributions. Companies operating in the tourism sector may consider the Tourism Growth Program for interest-free repayable funding. Manufacturers acquiring new physical assets can access the B.C. manufacturing and processing investment tax credit for eligible capital expenditures incurred through March 31, 2036. Finally, entities within the red meat sector seeking to develop kosher and halal quality assurance systems can apply to the AgriAssurance Program before its September 30, 2027 deadline.
