About CashRadarBot
If you run a government or public-sector website and you've seen CashRadarBot/1.0 in your logs, this page explains what it is.
What it does
CashRadar maintains a directory of Canadian government funding programs. For each program we track, we periodically request the single official page that describes it, to check that the link still works and to notice when a program closes, pauses or changes. That's the entire purpose.
What it doesn't do
- • It does not spider your site. It requests only specific pages we already list.
- • It does not submit forms, follow application flows, or create accounts.
- • It does not republish your content. We store a hash of the page text to detect changes, and link visitors to you.
- • It does not attempt to access anything behind authentication.
How often
Each page is requested at most once per day, and typically less. Requests run at a maximum of three concurrently with a delay between batches, and each request times out after 20 seconds. If your server returns 429 or 403, we record it as unreachable and take no further action. We don't retry aggressively or try to work around it.
Blocking it
Disallow CashRadarBot in your robots.txt and we'll stop. You can also email us and we'll remove your domain from our checks, no argument, no follow-up.
